Eight complete worm brains at different developmental stages — the only dataset that shows how a connectome changes as an animal grows, and how much varies between individuals.

Eight isogenic C. elegans individuals were reconstructed across postnatal stages. The result is the field’s best evidence on two questions that no single connectome can answer: what changes with development, and what varies between genetically identical animals.
What it is good for. Calibrating how much of any single connectome is idiosyncratic. Anyone about to make a claim from one volume should read this first.
What it does not support. Extrapolation to larger brains; the invariance of the worm lineage is a special case.
